So if you're interested in seeing the full breadth of Jamaica’s landscape - explore some of our spectacular rivers, waterfalls, caves, bays, mountains, forests and woodlands. |

Going on a guided tour will make for a safer, more enriching experience. There are many tourist board-approved local organisations that specialize in guided adventure tours. So whether you plan to go on a jungle canopy tour or a raft ride down the Martha Brae, go with a local expert who knows the ropes. |

Packing checklist. For adventures on land, don't forget to pack Insect Repellent that contains DEET, high SPF sunscreen, shades with UVA/UVB protection and broken-in, closed-toed hiking or walking shoes. For adventures in water, bring waterproof sunscreen, shades with UVA/UVB protection and sandals or water shoes with Velcro or lacing (flip-flops are a no-no)! And whatever you do, bring a camera. |

Lacovia is the longest village in Jamaica, laid out for more than five miles on either side of the South Coast highway and the Black River, both of which divide the community into East and West Lacovia. Throughout the 18th century, Black River and Lacovia alternated as the capital of the parish of St Elizabeth. At one point in time, the river was the main transportation route for the parish, as road travel through the dense and humid mangrove swamps was treacherous at worst, miserable at best. > Learn More

National Heritage:
The Worthy Park Sugar Estate, almost in the middle of the island, was founded in 1670 by Francis Price. It is the oldest sugar estate in continuous production.
