Description
The first Rolex watch was sold in Jamaica in 1935 to Henry Lopez of Abbey Court Great House by the Swiss-born merchant Rudolf Wäckerlin at his newly-opened watch and jewellery store in Kingston called Swiss Stores. Some 70 years later, Swiss Stores is still under Swiss management with Peter and Ueli Bangerter at the helm, and continues to be the only official Rolex retailer in Jamaica through its five locations as well as offering after-sale services at its new state-of-the-art workshop. Did you know?

The Abeng: The Abeng made from a cow horn known as the Akete was the main instrument of communication among the Maroons during the wars. They had a regular series of calls on the horn which summoned each other over great distances, such as warnings of the soldiers approaching. Even today horn-men still blow the Abeng.
